tornadoes
What are tornadoes? Tornadoes are huge pillars of swirling air that connects the earth and the sky. When this happens you better expect massive destruction. During a tornado thunderstorms may also happen.
How are tornadoes formed? Tornadoes are formed when the warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and the cold, dry air from Canada meet. When they meet they create instability in the atmosphere. A change in wind direction and a increase in wind speed with the increasing in height creates an invisible horizontal pillar that later becomes a destructive tornado.

What happens to the atmosphere during a tornado? Even before a tornado the atmosphere is already unstable. This causes a mesocyclone to form. A mesocyclone is a rotating column of air. This gives birth to a tornado.
What makes a tornado a "storm" and not just bad weather? It makes this a storm because of the destruction it leaves behind. It is one thing to leave puddles behind, but a whole different subject when it it leaves destroyed houses and structures.
What are the sub-storms of a tornado? There are only two types of sub-storms and one is a thunderstorm and the other is hail storm.
How is it different from other storm types? It is created by warm air and dry cold air. They are often happening in central U.S.A. Winds can range to 60 up to 320.
Conditions during a tornado? A dark or green colored sky. A large, dark, low lying cloud. Large hail. A loud raor that sounds like a fright train.
